Carrie Mulligan and Kiera Knightley compete for an epic role

Just kidding! These two pretty little things are in fact dear friends, however it doesn’t change the fact that they are indeed up for the same role of Eliza Doolittle in the upcoming remake of My Fair Lady. While Emma Thompson is busy writing the new script, Carrie Mulligan speculates on her chances of nabbing the prized role.

“She’s (Keira) eons higher up than I am. There’s a chain of people that get offers before you do, and she’s much higher in that chain… So I kind of think that if she rejects it, then I might get it. You never really know where you stand.”

We think Carrie would make a lovely Eliza and bring some depth to the role . She put forward a wonderful performance in the similar rags to riches story, An Education (2009). Or do we think filling the shoes of a great beauty like Audrey Hepburn might sit better with the undeniably striking Kiera Knightley? Both Oscar nominated actresses, who do you think would make a better ‘Eliza Doolittle’ in this charming remake to be?
