If You’re in Paris this Weekend and You Love Vintage…

In I want... on March 15, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Okay, very quick post for fellow vintage-enthusiasts in Paris this weekend. Get your retro-loving little souls ready and down to the Salon du Vintage fair in the Marais (where else?) and find France and Europe’s top dealers in clothing and knickknacks, who show up annually in Paris to sell their unusual, one-of-a-kind items. This is the fair’s seventh year, getting better with age, its reputation keeps growing amongst collectors and casual shoppers alike.

Designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Vanessa Bruno and Isabel Marant have visited the fair looking for inspiration for their own collections.

You’ll be looking at collector’s items, pieces dating from as far back as the 1930s– this is no gimmick for fashion dummies, Salon du Vintage is the real deal.

With special guest DJs at the grand venue and special presentations the event promises two days of lounging, mingling, drinking and of course, shopping.

Salon du Vintage doesn’t only clothe the nostalgic; it also offers hairstylists who will give period hairdos — think ’60s and ’70s. By appointment, they will transform women (30 euros, about $42.50) and men (15 euros, about $21.25) into “Mad Men” characters; prices include a massage and retro hair accessories.
